Onboard Service has developed a Unimatic entry field for flight attendants to use when surrendering their passport to a government agency for renewal or to obtain a company-required visa. The new field, called Passport Surrender, (PPR SURRENDERED) is located on the Unimatic FADOCS screen.
It allows the entry of a date when the passport is no longer in your possession and a date by which it is expected to be returned. Passport surrender should also be completed when a passport has been lost or stolen. Flight attendants are responsible for updating and insuring accuracy of their passport and visa information in the FADOCS screen, including incidents of surrender for renewals, loss or theft.
Using these fields prevents the award of assignments for which a passport is required through the reserve assignment or trip trade processes but will not impact the monthly bid and awards.
During the time period in which the passport is indicated to be out of possession, flight attendants based at domiciles in the U.S. will still be able to fly international trips to Hawaii, San Juan, Anchorage and St. Thomas. Trips to and from Canada and Mexico will be prohibited. Flight attendants who have surrendered their passport will be identified on the IBS by a “passport surrendered” message next to their name.
When entering an expected passport return date from a passport renewal, U.S. passport holders should allow 2-3 weeks for processing if the expedite service was requested and 10-12 weeks if it was not.
